The handover ceremony of 72 Yutong buses presented by Chinese government to Mozambique government was held in Maputo, capital city of Mozambique, July 14, 2011.
Ali, prime minister of Mozambique, Zucula, minister of traffic and communication, governor of Maputo, mayor of Maputo and other government officials as well as Huang Songpu, Chinese ambassador to Mozambique were present at the ceremony. Zukula and Huang signed the handover certificate representing the two governments respectively.
Ali delivered a speech after the signing ceremony, saying the friendly cooperation between the two countries in different areas is increasingly strengthening, and Chinese assistances to Mozambique play an active role in alleviating the poverty in Mozambique and addressing the public transport problems in Maputo city and province. He hoped the public transport department of Mozambique would cherish and well maintain these equipments, lengthening their service life as long as possible.
Huang said the handover of city buses is a new accomplishment of the development of bilateral friendly relationship. The cooperation between the two countries in different areas are stepping forward firmly, China is willing to help Mozambique alleviate the poverty. The 72 city buses presented by Chinese government are our practical support to address the public transport difficulty the Mozambique government is facing.
It is learned that the Public transport Company of Mozambique needs at least 300 city buses to cover the public transportation demands in Maputo city and province. But the on-road city buses right now are only dozens units, which are far from enough.
