The cornerstone laying ceremony of fuel-efficient and new energy base of Yutong Bus was held at Zhengzhou New District July 20, 2011. The construction of the base with an investment of 2.4 billion yuan, dubbed as “another Yutong Industrial Park”, has drawn attentions from different sides, becoming the R&D and manufacturing base of fuel-efficient and new energy buses with the investment in China.

It is learned that the base will be completed in one year and have a 10,000-unit annual production capacity of fuel-efficient and new energy buses, among which 6,000 units are fuel-efficient buses and 4,000 units new energy buses. The growth rate of bus demands per year is expected to be 7%, and new energy buses will be experiencing a higher increase with a broad market prospect. The phased objectives of Yutong fuel-efficient and new energy buses are: launch of 10~18m hybrid city buses and 7~14m electric city buses by 2012; an overall coverage of fuel-efficient and new energy bus market by 2015.
Cornerstone laying ceremony
This base is mainly focused on the research and development of new energy buses. New energy vehicles are the country’s and even the world’s strategic emerging industry, and a research subject worldwide which need large sustaining investment. In order to realize the commercialization of new energy vehicles, the core technology and product quality play a very important role, which are the basis for the commercialization of new energy vehicles.

In view of this, Yutong will equip a cluster of R&D equipments, like test rigs of powertrain, onboard power supply system, auxiliary system, engine performance and so on, as well as charging station for electric vehicles, to comprehensively improve the fuel economy, reliability, safety and stability of fuel-efficient and new energy buses. Meanwhile, a R&D center of new energy buses will be established in the new plant, specializing in the research of core technology of new energy buses and optimization of R&D system of new energy products.
Electric city bus with full-alu body
As a leading bus builder in China’s bus industry, Yutong has been stimulating the knowledge and experience in the research of fuel-efficient and new energy technology for years, aiming to explore a variety of new energy technology and multiple operational modes. Only when the blueprint is clear enough stepped Yutong in the new energy sector in large scale and began to build the fuel-efficient and new energy base. This action is meant to greatly enhance the development pace of new energy vehicles of the whole industry.
