The inauguration ceremony of 218 Yutong disable-friendly buses was held in Guangzhou on November 8, marking the official launch of these buses for serving the 16th Guangzhou Asian Games.
The 218 vehicles are part of the 1,000 Yutong buses used in the Asian Games. Adopted front and rear disc brakes, these buses have a more reliable brake performance. Many details of the buses take the needs of the disables into consideration. Low floor and low entry facilitate the boarding and alighting of passengers. Through auxiliary devices, the disables with wheelchairs can get on and off the bus smoothly by themselves. Meanwhile, reserved space for wheelchairs with fixing devices ensures the safety of the disables. By pressing the accessible get-off button, the disables can make the driver know when they want to alight. The station announcer separately installed for the blinds helps them to learn the route and stations with a “remote control”. In addition to these, the vehicles are also equipped with front, side and rear as well as interior electronic scrolling destination boards to display the approaching stations, providing convenience to passengers.
The disable-friendly buses, all using clean energy of LPG, reach Euro IV emission standard with few pollutant discharge, striking the chord of green Asiad spirit.
It is learned that all the 218 units would used for the disables during the Asiad, especially for serving the athletes and audiences during the Asian Para Games.
With the start of the Asian Games, the after-sales service is already available. A service team consisting of 30 people is keeping an eye on all Yutong buses serving the big event, including the 218 units, thus ensuring the smooth operation of the vehicles.
