The hand-over ceremony of ZK6140MGQA9 hybrid city buses from Yutong Bus to Zhengzhou Public Transportation Company (ZPTC) was held in Yutong Industrial Park on the morning of Nov. 27. Mr. Tang Yuxiang, the president of Yutong Group, handed a symbolic golden key to Mr. Li Chengyu, chief engineer of ZPTC, which announced the ZK6140MGQA9 hybrid city buses officially launching to the market in batch.
It is learned, that ZK6140MGQA9 is a 13.7m hybrid city bus elaborately built by Yutong, which adopts parallel hybrid technology and can cut the fuel consumption by approximately 20%. Up to now, this is also the only hybrid city bus model longer than 13 meters in China.
ZPTC purchased totally 10 hybrid buses from Yutong this time. A related leader from ZPTC said that these buses would be put in the operation of bus line No. 29 temporally. If necessary, they can be brought to other bus lines as well at rush hour.
ZK6140MGQA9 features enlarged side windows, spacious interior compartment and rational space distribution. With a maximum passenger capacity of 119 people and 32 seats, the bus possesses superior carrying capacity and high operation efficiency.
After treated by cathodic electrocoating process, the lasting beauty of ZK6140MGQA9 can be ensured during the entire operation period. Yutong launched electrocoating lines for both chassis and body with enormous amount of money, which improves the overall performance of anti-corrosion & anti-rust capability thus increasing the durability and aesthetic degree of buses remarkably.
This is not the first time that hybrid buses run on the roads of Zhengzhou city. In September 2008, Yutong provided two hybrid prototypes to ZPTC, which ran on bus lines No. K6 and bus line No. 215 respectively. After the trial operation, the hybrid bus showed good operation performance and the effect of low emission & low consumption, which won the favor of ZPTC and triggered the further purchase in batch.
It is learned that Yutong has begun the development of pure electric bus early in 1999. In 2005, 11m hybrid city bus was developed. In 2007, the development of 12m series hybrid city bus was completed and a new energy bus project team was established in the same year, focusing on the key technology development of new energy buses. In 2009, a New Energy Products Department was set up, which made a breakthrough in the control system of new energy products and mastered the core technology of new energy products.
Yutong has developed 10 models of hybrid buses, such as the first 14m hybrid bus and the first LPG gas-electric hybrid bus in China. Among them, seven models got the national homologation and were brought into pilot operation in Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Kunming, Zhengzhou, etc. Meanwhile, Yutong has won a bid of 60 hybrid buses in Hangzhou.
“In 2008, the sales volume of Yutong city buses reached 5,500 units, accounting for 11% of the domestic market share in terms of city buses, firmly ranked first in China’s bus industry. Now we are constantly integrating the public transportation products, lowering the bus weight and improving the energy-efficiency and emission reduction. Given that we only cut the fuel consumption a little, when it comes to more than 5000 buses, the energy-saving effect will be very substantial,” said Mr. Wu Xiaoguang, deputy chief engineer of Yutong Bus.
